With the weather gradually getting warmer, for me that means Milkshakes should be out in full force!
(Even though I will happily delve into them anytime!) So I decided to give you a quick little run through of how to make your own milkshakes…
First of all, you’ll need a blender. But no, it doesn’t have to be super fancy. Supermarket own brands are much cheaper, and still get the job done! (Though just be wary if you are using something more solid like chocolate, that it’s broken up a bit so it doesn’t wear out the blades).
Now we’ve got that set up, i’ll tell how easy it is to make milkshakes…
For A Nutella Milkshake:
This is based on a recipe for one serving, double up as required.
- A glass of Milk (any kind will do, but I use Semi-Skimmed)
- One scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream (if you don’t have an ice cream scoop, use a tablespoon)
- 2 & a half scoops of Nutella (You can use the same utensil as you did for the ice cream)
- Fancy adding some health? Chop up one banana and add that in too for a great combo of Nutella & Banana!
Then you can adapt this recipe however you like… try breaking up something sweet: chocolate, biscuits, cake, sweets (Oreos, Maltesers, Minstrels), for a healthy option: you can head in a smoothie direction with fruit juices or fresh fruit (strawberries, banana, raspberries), change up the ice cream: dare to put chocolate or strawberry ice cream in the mix, extra flavour: add sauces or toppings. Anything you like that you think will work in a milkshake… just go for it! There’s no harm in experimenting, because that’s where the fun lies!
Then you serve in a glass, stick a straw in (and if you’re feeling really flash, you can add on a topping like grated chocolate) and enjoy!
This recipe is great if you fancy a sweet treat for yourself, or for sharing with friends and family… I mean, who doesn’t love a milkshake on a hot summers day?
(or any day of the week really)
